Skyliners take the lead in both junior and senior after the first day of the Dr. Richard Porter Classic

The first day of the Dr. Richard Porter Synchronized Skating Classic, the last U.S. competition of the year, kicked off on Friday evening. The competition started with the junior and senior short events at the Ann Arbor Ice Cube in Ann Arbor, Michigan.

Junior ISU event

rnrnrnrnrnrnrnrnrnrnrnrnrnrnrnElevenrnteams from across the country battled it out on Friday evening.

Skyliners landed in first ahead of Teams Elite by less than three points. TeamsrnElite’s short program to an epic cover of “Aint No Sunshine” put them almostrnnine points ahead of Starlights. Team Image finished in fourth place, less thanrnhalf a point behind Starlights. Hockettes finished in fifth place, less than arnpoint above DC EDGE.

Senior competition

rnrnrnrnrnrnrnrnrnrnrnrnrnrnrnrnSkylinersrnled the senior short event with a score of 71.16, more than six points abovernMiami University of Ohio. Miami University of Ohio earned a season’s best ofrn64.74, showcasing their power and elegance by skating to “Amazing Grace.”rnCrystallettes finished in third, more than eight points above Adrian CollegernVarsity SST
